Answers to the main doubts about the Master in Nutrition and Health at UFG.

Is the course FREE?

Yes, the master's degree in Nutrition and Health at UFG is completely free, and students are not charged monthly fees. The only fee charged is for registration in the selection process.

 

What DAYS and HOURS do classes take place?

Classes in the disciplines offered by our Program can take place in the morning and afternoon shifts, and are preferably concentrated on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Classes can take place on a weekly basis or can be offered intensively (taught in a few days with a higher workload each day). At the beginning of each semester, the class schedule is published, with the disciplines and times in which they will be taught. If the student chooses, it is possible to complete the credits of subjects in the first year of the master's degree, being able to dedicate the second year only to the development of his research.

 

Do I need to present a PRE-PROJECT at registration?

It is not necessary to present a pre-project in the application. If the candidate is approved in the selection process, he / she must present (at the time of registration) a Project Proposal Form, in a model to be provided by PPG Nutrition and Health.

 

How / when do I apply for the Program SELECTION?

The selection process takes place annually. The next is scheduled for the second half of 2020. I am not graduated in Nutrition, can I apply in the selection process?

The target audience of the selection process is disseminating via the selection notice. The notice is usually released at the beginning of the second half of each year. In the announcement of the last selection process, the requirement in relation to the public was:

"Candidates with a degree in Nutrition or in related areas, duly recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC), may participate in the PPGNUT Master's Selection Process; as well as graduates of Graduation, provided that they prove the completion of that course, on a date prior to the registration at PPGNUT. (...) The approval of the registration of candidates from similar areas is subject to approval by CPGNUT, as long as it meets the possibilities provided for in the two lines of research mentioned in item 3 of this Notice. (...)

a) Diagnosis and Nutritional Intervention - Description: Studies involving clinical, dietary, genetic / genomic, anthropometric and biochemical indicators in health and disease, with emphasis on food and nutrition, as well as physical exercise. Application of intervention strategies in in vitro studies, in animal models and in humans, with the objective of contributing to the reduction of health risk factors, to the treatment of diseases and to the improvement of physical and sports performance.
b) Food and Nutrition Security and Food Science - Description: Studies involving policies, programs and projects in food, nutrition and health, with an emphasis on nutritional problems. Studies on the quality of food in different food systems, aiming at health and technological applications. "

How do I prepare for the Program SELECTION?

Candidates interested in pursuing postgraduate studies (master's and doctorate) at PPGNUT can prepare themselves as follows:

a) Acquire a good level of interpretation of scientific articles in English;

b) Carry out scientific initiation during their graduation, and / or participate as a research volunteer in one of the research groups of PPGNUT;

c) Take courses at PPGNUT as a special student.

 

I am a FOREIGNER and I want to enroll in the Program, what should I do?

You can normally participate in the selection process for regular students that takes place annually. For this you must come to take the tests in person on the date published in the notice. The selection process announcement is published on the page www.ppgnut.fanut.ufg and on the program's profile on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/mestradofanut. How to CONTACT the teachers of the Program to obtain the Letter of Recommendation?
Send an e-mail to the teacher (mailing list), if he / she does not answer please contact by phone (62-3209-6270). If possible, schedule a place / time for them to discuss the possibility of orientation in the master's degree. If the candidate lives outside Goiânia, he / she should ask the advisor to fill in the letter of recommendation (available on our page) and delivered to the PPGNUT Secretariat during the period for registration. Note: in the last selection process, the Letter of Recommendation was not requested, but it is important that the candidate contacts the alleged advisor so that they can talk about the type of project they intend to develop during the course.

 

Do I need to have taken a lato sensu postgraduate course (SPECIALIZATION) to enroll in the master's selection process?

No. Anyone who is graduated or is completing a degree course in Nutrition or similar areas can enroll in the Master's Selection Process.

 

For registration in the selection process via SEDEX do I need to send the original vouchers for the documents?
By certified mail, notarized documents must be sent (no need to send the original)

 

How do I qualify for the MA scholarship?

The master's scholarship is a cash value that the student receives every month. The purpose of this scholarship is to promote the training of high-level human resources.

CAPES social demand scholarships will be distributed based on the grade of the selection process for admission to PPG - Nut and on the (formalized) interest of the student to receive the scholarship. Formalization of interest in the scholarship is done on the occasion of the first enrollment in the Program.

There are also FAPEG, and CNPq scholarships. FAPEG and CNPq normally launch the public notice in the first half of each year. The student must be attentive and enroll. In these two types of scholarship, the research project proposal is taken into account, among other criteria.

How do I sign up as a SPECIAL STUDENT? How it works?

Special student is one enrolled in isolated subjects of the Master's, Academic or Professional courses, or Doctorate. Every semester, we announce, through the public notice of the selection process, the vacancies available to special students in the disciplines offered, as well as the requirements required for their admission. Special students will be able to attend up to fifty percent of the number of credits required in our Program, in the interval of five years, these credits being eligible for use.

 

How to participate as a research subject?

The interested party should contact the researcher through the email available on the PPGNUT page. It is recommended that you evaluate the teacher's Lattes to check the lines of research of interest.

 

How to participate as a volunteer in a research project?


If you are interested in participating in research projects, helping in collecting data such as scientific initiation, the interested party should contact the researcher through the email available on the PPGNUT page (click here to access e-mails). It is recommended that you evaluate the teacher's Lattes to check the lines of research of interest.

It is interesting to participate in the research projects because the future master student will acquire experience in research in addition to receiving a certificate of participation (which will count as points in the selection process).
